Two Senior Veterinarians from the United States on Monday July 20 arrived in the country as guests of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The two visiting American Veterinarians Beth A. Miller and Arlene Gardsbane work for Veterinarians Without Borders, a California-based veterinarian institution in the United States of America.
While in Liberia, the team along with some Liberian Livestock Technicians and Veterinarians including Mr. Samuel Tucker of the Agriculture Ministry will gather data from several Ministries and Agencies of Government having oversight in the area of livestock such as the College of Agriculture and Forestry of the University of Liberia, private farms and livestock raising organizations, among others
Veterinarians Without Borders will also organize workshops geared toward enhancing the health and wellbeing of the Liberian animal population through strengthening individual and institutional capacity for animal disease surveillance, prevention and treatment.
The team said they are happy to be in Liberia to identify with their Liberian colleagues in finding solutions to the many problems affecting the livestock sub-sector in the country.
Veterinarians Without Borders will visit other parts of the country before leaving Liberia for the United States in two weeks.
