The Food Security & Nutrition Unit

A Food Security and Nutrition Secretariat was set up and placed in the Ministry of Agriculture to spearhead the implementation of the strategy of the Joint Food Security and Nutrition Program. It was set up in 1988 for monitoring food security and nutrition situation in the country as well as coordinating food security related activities and programs.

In collaboration with LISGIS, the Unit has been monitoring the market price collection in ten major markets across the country. As a result of this monitoring, ten (10) market bulletins (The Liberia Market Price Monitor) were prepared and released to guide Government and its partners in planning and decision making processes and for public consumption.
