TCEP Baseline Survey Training begins at PMU
Monrovia, (PMU-MoA) – December 12, 2019; A five day training for 20 interviewers and 5 supervisors selected to conduct a baseline survey under the IFAD funded Tree Crops Extension Project (TCEP) in Nimba and Lofa Counties got underway on Thursday at the Project Management Unit, Ministry of Agriculture complex, University of Liberia Annex outside Monrovia.
The baseline survey which will be conducted under the auspices of the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) and is expected to utilize the Flexible Outcome Survey (FOS) Methodology which was introduced to enhance the quality of data collection in the field.
Making remarks at the opening of the training, the (IFAD) Project Coordinator Mr. Emmanuel Vah who spoke on behalf of Acting Agriculture Minister Precious K. Tetteh stressed the importance of the data quality.
He said the data from the two counties will inform major policy decisions of the project, therefore it would be very important to ensure that the data represents the true happenings in the field. He cautioned that any data manipulation will be undesirable and could lead to fundamental errors in the implementation of the project.
Also making remarks, the Director General of LISGIS Professor Francis F. Wreh assured that LISGIS has built a credible reputation over the years and they will ensure that interviewers maintain this reputation in the data collection and analysis.
Each of the interviewers will be assigned a Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing Tablet using survey solution for easy data tabulation and analysis.
