Agriculture Minister Launches Rice Harvest of 200 Acres Mechanized Farming in Foya, Lofa County Lauds Partners for buttressing government Pro-Poor Agenda
A mechanized harvest of 200 acres in rice production was recently launched in Foya District, Lofa County by Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture Dr. Mogana S. Flomo Jr. This huge upland rice investment project under the Liberian Agriculture and Infrastructure Investment Company (AIIC) is sole owned by a young Liberian entrepreneur, Mohammed Kamara.
Launching the harvest on November 2, 2018, the agriculture minister lauded the leadership of AIIC for the selfless determination and tireless efforts demonstrated to make such investment in rice production. He indicated that Liberia can be self-sufficient food production provided farmers are given the relevant. The minister then urged Liberians to take farming as a business to money in their pockets and money in the pockets.
Since the Minister took over the helm of the ministry, he has so far toured all of Liberia’s 15 counties motivating farmers and encouraging Liberians to invest in the soil.
