Liberia to be Self-Sufficient in Food Production by 2022- Dr. Mogana S. Flomo, Jr, Minister of Agriculture
Liberia to be Self-Sufficient in Food Production by 2022
Rice dealers have been spending about Two Hundred Million United States dollars every year on rice importation to Liberia. This annual expenditure basically spending only on food stuff is greatly hampering the growth and development of the country’s economy. But what has previous administrations done in tackling this aged problem of food importation in the country or is it that policies put in placed on food production are just not working to impact the lives of smallholder farmers to increase food production?
Dr. Mogana S. Flomo, Jr., is the new Minister of Agriculture in Liberia. He has vowed to make food production a top priority, something the Minister says will make Liberia self-sufficient. Liberia has a tropical climate with the potential to produce enough food to eat and even to export to other neighboring countries. We are going to aggressively approach this now and ensure that Liberia is self-sufficient in food production by 2022. Minister Mogana Flomo gave the assurance when he officially took office on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Ministry of Agriculture.
