The Agriculture Sector Rehabilitation Project (ASRP) seeks to contribute to food security and poverty reduction by enhancing food security and building community empowerment in highly deprived rural communities in four out of the fifteen Liberian counties: Grand Kru, Maryland, River Gee and Grand Gedeh.

The project is undertaking series of activities along the rice value chain to engender increased rice production with yields amounting between 2.5 to 4 MT per hectare to enable beneficiaries have sufficient rice for consumption and improved income from sales of their harvests for improvement in their livelihoods. 

Activities undertaken to achieve this objective include lowland rice cultivation through rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructures for eight swamps to ensure efficient water management to support double-cropping in a year, construction of community infrastructures, such as rice milling facilities and warehouses to reduce post-harvest losses experienced by the farming communities, rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads to enable farmers have improved access to  production sites, agricultural inputs or outputs as well as  markets and introduction of improved production technologies.

In fulfillment to this, the Project dedicated and handed over a 1000 MT Agro-processing facility and Management Facilities along with  an MOA Office and a 27^th Kilometer Zwedru-Ziah Town Road to the County Leadership of Grand Gedeh County on Sunday 1^st May 2016.

The dedication and handover were done by His Excellency Joseph N. Boakai, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia, among other Government officials including Hon. Alphonso Gaye- Senator, Grand Gedeh County, Hon. Peter Solo-Superintendent, Grand Gedeh, Hon. Charles McClain-Deputy Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Local leaderships, as well as ASRP staff, Field Staff, NGOs, engineers, workers, project beneficiaries and citizenry of the county.
